Beethoven’s ten sonatas for piano and violin are a pinnacle of the duo repertoire, and include some of the composer’s finest works. This series sees five outstanding violinists join Sholto Kynoch in programmes encompassing all ten works, as well as the major works in this genre by Bela Bartok.
Each concert will take place in Oxford in the delightful setting of the Jaqueline du Pré Music Building and be repeated at the beautiful Rosslyn Hill Chapel in Hampstead, London (see venue information below). All Oxford concerts begin at 8.00pm; those in London begin at 7.30pm.

Tee Khoon Tang
24-year-old Singaporean violinist Tee Khoon Tang made her concerto debut at age 12 with the National University Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and appears frequently at many prestigious concerts, including private performances for former Singapore President, Mr. Ong Teng Cheong, the World Trade Organization Closing Ceremony held in Singapore, Tsunami Benefit Concert organized by the ASEAN Women's Circle in Washington D.C. (U.S.A.) among many other performances. Ms. Tang has performed frequently as a solo violinist in Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Australia, Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland, United Kingdom and the United States.
In 2005, she presented her Carnegie Weill Hall debut recital in New York City, U.S.A. after being named winner of the East and West International Artists Auditions. In addition, Ms. Tang has won numerous scholarships, including the MBF Myra Hess Award, Martin Musical Scholarship Award, London Symphony Orchestra String Scheme Award. Ms. Tang has been a prizewinner in various competitions like Irving Klein International Competition (California), Kingsville Competition (Texas) and Kocian International Violin Competition (Czech Republic).
Also an avid chamber musician, Ms. Tang has collaborated in performances with members of the Emerson String Quartet, Borromeo String Quartet, Peabody Piano Trio, San Francisco Piano Quartet, faculty of Juilliard School, Hsin-Yun Huang, Ian Swenson. She has also worked in string ensembles with conductors Seiji Ozawa, Robert Mann and Chris Warren-Green and leaders, Mayumi Seiler, Stephanie Gonley, Gordan Nikolitch. During her studies in New England Conservatory, (Boston, U.S.A.), Ms. Tang was part of the Nielsen String Quartet, which performed extensively in New England area, making their Jordan Hall (Boston) debut in 2004.
Ms. Tang has also appeared in many music festivals, such as Yellow Barn Music Festival (Vermont), Music@Menlo Festival (California), Banff Chamber Music Masterclasses (Canada), Seiji Ozawa International Music Academy (Switzerland), Music Academy of the West (California), Norfolk Yale Chamber Music Sessions (Connecticut), Kirishima Music Festival (Japan), ASEAN Youth Music Workshop (Thailand).
Most recently, she was in Asia performing with violinist Midori as part of a string quartet, promoting classical music in the Japanese and Indonesian communities.
Ms. Tang is currently a Fellow at the Guildhall School of Music with David Takeno. She previously studied with Donald Weilerstein at New England Conservatory, Boston, U.S.A..
Ms. Tang plays on a Michelangelo Bergonzi, 1757, kindly on loan to her by a private instrument collection.
The Rosslyn Hill Unitarian Chapel
The Rosslyn Hill Unitarian Chapel is a north-London gem, a 19th-century building in gothic style, with windows by Burne-Jones and William Morris. It also houses a wonderful Steinway concert grand piano, and boasts excellent acoustics, making it a popular concert venue.
The Chapel is located a short walk down the hill from Hampstead tube (Northern Line), between the Hampstead Deli and Giraffe restaurants. Buses 268 and 46 stop almost immediately outside the chapel, and there is good local parking. Hampstead also offers a wealth of cafes and restaurants for anyone wishing to eat before or after the concert.
